Kitchen remodeling with our own cabinet shop

Most remodelers order cabinets from a factory six states away and shim them until they fit. Ours are built on Atwood Ave, for your walls, by the man who will install them.

Rift-sawn white oak kitchen with soapstone counters and a spruce green island

A Fourlakes kitchen starts in the design studio attached to our shop. You will walk the aisle where your cabinet doors are drying, put your hands on the white oak, and see your layout taped full-size on our floor before you approve a fixed price.

Because the cabinetry is ours end to end, we can do the things catalogs cannot: a pantry sized to the inch around your chest freezer, drawers that swallow a stand mixer, a paneled fridge that actually lines up. When a filler strip would be the easy answer, we rebuild the box instead.

Construction runs six to ten weeks for most full kitchens. You get a posted calendar, a Friday update with photos, and a broom-clean site every night, because you still live here.

How it works

How a project runs

  1. 01

    Walk the house

We meet at your home, talk scope and budget honestly, and tell you on the spot if we are not the right fit.

  2. 02

    Design in the shop

Drawings, 3D previews, and materials you can hold, in the studio attached to our workshop. Ends with a fixed price.

  3. 03

    Build it once

A posted calendar, a dust wall, a broom-clean site every night, and cabinetry arriving from a mile away instead of a freight dock.

  4. 04

    Come back in winter

Final walkthrough, then the Second Winter visit 14 months later to make right anything the seasons moved.

Good to know

Kitchens questions

Does shop-built cabinetry cost more than semi-custom brands?

Usually within 10% of the semi-custom lines we are compared against, and less than most people expect. Because there is no dealer margin or freight, the money goes into materials and joinery.

How long does a full kitchen take?

Six to ten weeks of construction for most projects, after a design phase that typically runs four to six weeks. The calendar is set before you commit.

Can we stay in the house?

Almost everyone does. We build a dust wall, set up a temporary kitchen with your fridge and microwave, and keep water on except for announced shutoffs.
